What It Can Help With
Microdermabrasion works by removing the outermost layer of skin, triggering the skin's natural renewal process and improving the look of a wide range of surface-level concerns. Here's what it's most commonly used for.
Dull or Uneven Skin Tone
Removing the layer of dead, compacted skin cells reveals fresher skin underneath and immediately restores a brighter, more even-looking complexion.
Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Regular microdermabrasion sessions help soften the visible appearance of fine lines over time by consistently supporting the skin's cell renewal process.
Enlarged Pores and Blackheads
The mechanical exfoliation and suction action helps clear out the debris and buildup that contribute to enlarged pores and blackheads, leaving skin looking cleaner and more refined.
Hyperpigmentation, Age Spots and Sun Damage
By removing the outermost skin layer and supporting cell turnover, microdermabrasion can gradually improve the appearance of areas of uneven pigmentation.
Acne Scarring
Microdermabrasion can help soften the appearance of superficial acne scarring and post-acne discoloration over a course of regular sessions.
Rough Skin Texture and Stretch Marks
The resurfacing action smooths the skin's surface, improving rough patches and the visible texture of mild stretch marks with continued treatment.
Ideal For: All skin tones & types
Not Recommended For: Active acne · Open skin lesions · Certain skin conditions · Fragile capillaries · Those taking photosensitising medications

Microdermabrasion uses a specialized handheld device to gently remove the outermost layer of the skin, through controlled mechanical exfoliation. This signals the skin to produce new cells and triggers the natural renewal process.
For best results, a course of sessions is recommended rather than a single treatment. Your consultation will help determine the right number and frequency based on your skin and what you're looking to improve.
Talk It Through With Becky1. Skin assessment and consultation
Before the session begins, we assess your skin and discuss your concerns and goals to confirm microdermabrasion is appropriate and tailor the session to your skin.
2. Cleanse and prep
Your skin is thoroughly cleansed to remove all makeup, oil and surface impurities before the device is applied.
3. Microdermabrasion
A handheld device is used to gently resurface the skin. Depending on your skin type and concern, this may involve an abrasive tip or a fine particle spray with suction, both remove the outer skin layer while clearing debris from the surface and pores simultaneously.
4. Targeted post-treatment care
A serum, moisturiser and SPF are applied to finish the session. With the outer skin layer removed, active ingredients absorb more effectively than they would on untreated skin, and the SPF protects the fresh surface while the results settle in.
What to Know Before and After
Before Your Treatment

I absolutely love FaBesthetics! From my first appointment with Becky I have felt comfortable, confident, and amazing. She is extremely knowledgeable and very easy to talk to. I have done laser hair removal treatments and most recently a Dermaplaning Facial. Everything is very clean and the environment is very relaxing and soothing! My skin feels absolutely amazing and clear and I actually have been able to leave the house without makeup. I haven't had the confidence to do that in over 20 years. I highly recommended Becky - she is absolutely amazing ❤️

No. The treatment is well tolerated by most clients. You may feel a mild scratching or vibrating sensation as the device passes over the skin, but it's generally easy to tolerate throughout.
None. You can return to your normal routine immediately after your session. Some clients notice a mild pink flush in the first day or two, which settles quickly.
Most clients benefit from a course of treatments rather than a single session. The right number depends on your skin concern and how your skin responds. Your consultation will give you a clearer recommendation based on your specific goals.
Many clients notice an improvement in skin texture and brightness after their first session. More significant improvements in tone, pigmentation and surface texture become more visible over a course of regular sessions.
Yes. Microdermabrasion is considered safe for most skin types and tones. It's gentler than chemical peels or laser resurfacing, which makes it a good option for a wide range of clients.
Microdermabrasion is not recommended for clients with active rosacea, inflammatory acne, eczema, psoriasis, fragile capillaries, open wounds or lesions, or those who have taken isotretinoin within the past 6 months. Your consultation is the right time to go through your skin history so we can confirm it's appropriate for you.
Both are exfoliation treatments, but they work differently. Microdermabrasion uses a mechanical device to resurface the skin and is suited to concerns like uneven tone, mild scarring and rough texture. Dermaplaning uses a blade to remove dead skin cells and vellus hair and is better suited to people who also want peach fuzz removal. Neither involves chemicals or downtime. Your consultation will help determine which is the better fit for your skin.
Microdermabrasion works on the surface of the skin since it's a resurfacing treatment. Microneedling creates controlled micro-punctures that trigger collagen production deeper in the skin. Microdermabrasion is a gentler option for surface concerns. Microneedling is better suited to deeper concerns like scarring, laxity and more pronounced texture issues.
